I tried everything on the glass. Windex, CLR, Limeaway, Kaboom, Scrubbing bubbles, etc. Nothing touched the hard water stains. So, I got on Amazon and saw what was available with great reviews. This product was highly rated, so I bought it.
It's got a kind of minty smell and it also a mint color thick gel/paste. You put it on a cloth or paper towel and buff it into the glass. I did test it in a small area by the sink wall to make sure it didn't scratch, since this is a mild abrasive. Being that it is meant for glass and other surfaces, I wasn't expecting any issues - and didn't see any.
I didn't think it required that much effort, but if your stains are really bad, you might need to use some elbow grease!
After you rub it in, you just rinse it off and then remove any streaks with Windex or similar glass cleaner. I can't believe the difference!
I swear it feels brighter in the shower, too. I still need to perfect everything with the regular glass cleaner, but it is awesome to have all those spots gone!
Some before and afters (some taken with light on, some off):
Now, I need to tackle the grout and caulking around the tile. Ugh, never ends! I hope to have something more fun to share soon. We made some changes to the basement, and I need an opinion on our doors. Have a great week!
Wow that really does work!
ReplyDeleteWe have single pane windows that have this weird hazing going on... I know it's not water spots, but I wonder if the abrasive would work for us, too...
I read in some of the reviews that people had success using it on old windows! Can't hurt to try!
DeleteI wonder if this will work on my Jeep headlights? (kidding they are plastic and honestly I just need to purchase new ones).
ReplyDeleteHa! Yeah, I've bought miracle headlight products before and they don't do anything. That damn plastic!
DeleteA friend recommended applying a coat of Rain-Ex to the shower glass. I see on Amazon they now make a spray version for the shower.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I've purchased Rain X for my windshield, and had a really hard time getting it even and not looking hazy. I think I need to try again, because a lot of people love it!
DeleteI used to go forever between cleaning the glass on our shower. So, it would be so hard to clean. Then I saw something on Pinterest about putting Dawn, vinegar (and maybe water?) in a fillable sponge wand thing. It worked like a charm. Between cleanings we use a squeege after every shower now and we don't have a problem. I am going to save your Amazon find though because you never know when it'll come in handy! The difference is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes use Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser to remove the hard water stains also. Love your projects!
