Hot summer cleaning

I noticed a little while ago that my beloved Moorish Tile rug in the dressing room was getting a little too worn in the places I walked all the time.  Mainly, the entrance to the room and in front of the dresser where I primp myself on the regular.  So, I decided to flip the rug so it would wear more evenly.  This was pretty annoying to do.
We decided instead of moving the dresser out of the room, that we'd just have Shaun lift it up while I shimmied the rug out and back in.  It actually worked really well, and saved the trouble of me cleaning off all my crap from the moving the dresser.  Guess what I found behind the bookcases holding my tops?
Awe yeah, that's the good stuff.  There were tons of hairy dust bunnies dangling from the walls back there, too.  No wonder I walk into this house and have allergy fits!  This was behind the tall mirror:
Since that mirror is light and highly mobile, there really isn't any excuse for this!  I'm seriously the messiest fashionista you've ever seen.  Consider me reformed.

  1. Reading this just reminded me to clean out the cat-hair-covered fan on my computer lol I blame all extra large dust bunnies on my cat!

  2. Every time I vacuum our hardwood floors I see the same thing, haha. I pull out our bookshelves and there are tons of dust bunnies.

  3. Dust bunnies breed in our house, too. Ugh, I hate them but I really don't know how to keep them at bay. I will never win a housekeeping award, that's for sure. :)

  4. Ugh, that's the worst. I get them behind my little Machy's bed...it's a job all in itself!

  5. I never blame it on the humans for all the dust bunnies. Instead I blame it on 2 long haired cats. I also call it Cat Hair Tumbleweed.

  7. We have two dogs, a cat, and a two year old. Our dust bunnies usually have goldfish crackers or cherrios in them.

  8. With all of our pets, this is, unfortunately, a common occurrence at our house! It's a constant battle (and I'm pretty sure I'm losing it...)

  9. This hits pretty close to home. I was disgusted when we did the deep clean before putting the house up for sale. My mom helped and she was shocked at the scenes behind my dressers and beds.

  10. but you just did a lot of wedding planning so you totes have an excuse. there really is nothing better than a clean house though - I feel so much better after cleaning. We just travelled and the laundry is officially out of control

  11. I find that a lot of the dust bunnies in our downstairs are coming FROM THE RUG! The way I can tell is because they are TURQUOISE.

No more Pier 1 cheapo rugs for me!

  12. Dear god thank you for showing this. I spent a good portion of Saturday trying to get the mop under the bed to remove the dust bunnies. It's the downside to having hardwoods in our bedroom now. But I guess if it were carpet, it would just be hidden (and not fly around when the wind blows...)

  13. I hate dust bunnies! I have a golden retriever, Ben, and summer is the worst when it comes to hair on the floor -- we actually call the rolling clumps "tumble Bens" instead of "tumble weeds."

  14. Don't worry about the dust- you are definitely not the only one! :) That was a great idea to turn the rug, to help it wear more evenly! Beautiful rug!! :)
