I'm totally pregnant

Yeah, I couldn't come up with a cute way of saying it, so BOOM there it is.  And here is my 13-week-old spawn waving to you all with a monstrous mitt:
Hello, fetus!  I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and I'm just starting to feel human again.  Although I still can't poop, but manage to pee about 80 times a day.  I also had to do some serious editing on my awful acne in this picture:
I got pregnant the very first time we tried (thank you, Clearblue Easy Ovulation testers!) and I was definitely not expecting that.  While I didn't have any sickness, my allergies were unbearable and I was just depressed that I was tired all the time and didn't want to leave the house.  This may change going forward, but I really hate being pregnant!  Good thing there is a prize at the end :)

Oh yeah, the kitchen.  We are in the process of removing all the contents of the cabinets and are ripping them out this weekend.
The cats don't like the noise, but they sure do love climbing into those empty cabinets.
We have chosen a granite called 'Phantom Green' in a sueded finish.  I LOVE IT!  It looks like soapstone but isn't soft and doesn't require all that oiling.
By the way, we are going with the new oak flooring in the kitchen that I posted about before.  This weekend is demo, then electrical, then drywall, then flooring, then I have a headache for New Years.  And then, our cabinets arrive and I go into labor!  Just kidding.  I hope.

  1. Congrats!

Oy, pregnancy acne. It didn't hit badly during my first pregnancy, but during the second? And it was before we had a digital camera and photoshop. There aren't many photos of me pregnant. ;)

  2. FABULOUS!! Congratulations!

fyi, if you are taking prenatal vitamins the large amounts of iron in them can lead to constipation. (I switched to Flintstones for that reason.)

  22. Congratulations! And yay for being out of the first trimester! My preg-acne got much better after the 1st tri (slowly but surely) and the same with the fatigue. It was all really gradual though, no magically waking up at 14w and feeling like a million bucks, unfortunately.

    Congrats again!

  33. Congrats!!! So exciting. I am about 2 weeks behind you-and haven't announced it yet to non family and close friends, shh-but of course had to chime in since I'm so close behind you. The first trimester is the pits - please let me know if the second trimester is all it's cracked up to be. I've had the acne (it was my only symptom for the first few weeks) and the exhaustion - oh, the exhaustion. Luckily I'm 'regular' still :) Good luck to you! Can't wait for updates (pregnancy, baby and home)

  41. Try a cocktail of half grape juice, half prune juice in the evenings. Make it very cold and its not bad. Don't stop the prenatal vitamins, you do need the iron.

  44. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! :-)

I totally LOL'd at the 'still can't poop' remark haha. Oh does that bring back memories. It gets better, except after the baby arrives {like while your still in the hospital and the following 2-3 weeks}... ya.... let's just say I felt like I needed a permanent enema ... I know TMI but it was allll for the baby! :-)

Congrats again, so happy for you! :-)

  49. Congrats to you! I want to affirm for you that its ok to hate being pregnant. I absolutely hated it. I had all day sickness for seven months, my hip clicked loud enough for others to hear with every step for five months, and my little miss was so high that I could not breathe. I loved feeling her kick and I defiantly miss that. It was more than worth it, but it was awful!

    Congrats again!

LOOOOVE the granite you chose--it TOTALLY looks like soapstone w/out the maintenance, you're so right. I'm filing this away for our future kitchen.

P.S. This must be a record for me--2 references to bodily functions in one comment.

P.P.S. You get major props for living amidst reno chaos while prego.
