Floor is finished

I can finally say I am done with the floor in the baby's room.  We decided to do just two coats of poly because I'm the one with the poly skillz and I just couldn't do another coat with my belly and the fumes.
The transition to the hallway looks pretty good, too!
I spent my Saturday sliding around on my butt/knees, trying not to get too out of breath while taping off the shoe molding and priming and painting it all.  That was a nightmare.  Seems everything I used to do with ease is a problem these days!
After I was done with two coats of paint and cleaned up, the floor was looking really nice.  Not that you can tell the difference in this far away shot, but here it is post-paint.
I had a 'wah wah' moment when I realized that I hadn't painted any of the window or door casing in this room, I totally thought I had.  So, I will be spending a lot more time than I planned in here priming and painting.  With this belly, it's going to be a challenge!
Dang, watch out!  At 26 weeks, I'm swelling, huffing, puffing, super-sweating, breaking out, itching, and constantly peeing.  I'm annoyed by the belly in my way, my expanding everything, and OMG my back hurts.  Oh well, not everyone digs pregnancy and I will get through it.
Good news is my glucose test was great (huzzah!), my iron level is good, my blood pressure is super low, and I've had less colds this winter than ever before, so I guess my body doesn't mind it as much as I do.  Weird.
ps - I've gained 26 pounds so far.  I blame it on eating to make up for being sober.  Do you feel me??

You and your belly are so cute!

The floors look awesome, especially with the newly painted baseboards and shoe molding - nice and crisp! Are you still thinking of repainting the walls a lighter version of the same color?

Looking good girl. I feel your pain. I was painting our soon to be change table this weekend and getting into all the nooks and crannies. Man it is had to bend with a big old bump in front of you!

And your floors look awesome too!

I SO HEAR YOU on everything being hard all of a sudden!! I'm in the middle of making curtains and I had to crawl around on the floor to cut/measure/etc the fabric and I was in a foul mood by the end of it. Good times. :) The floor looks amazing, though, and now you can tell your baby tales of your sacrifices for him and his nursery. :) BTW - I had crazy back pain around 26 weeks and then it went away after about 2 weeks - maybe yours will, too??

You're looking fantastic Sara!

As part of my nesting phase, at 38 weeks I decided it would be a fantastic idea to paint the skirting boards in the lounge room. I actually had to lay down on my side to do it. That was a sight!

Your belly is perfect!

26 lbs - I think you r gonna be fine! I gained 35 lbs and I'm almost back to my prepregnancy weight (I blame the milk in the boobs for the couple extra lbs), so no worries :-D

And I hate how painted trim just don't have the same PRESENCE in photos as they do in real life. I trust that they look fab. As fab as the floor! Can't believe you poly'd all that by yourself.

Floors look fab! Being pregnant is no walk in the park. Luckily, it doesn't last forever. You look great! No one would ever guess you were so miserable ;)

Wow Sara - I'm totally loving those floors!! Great job!

Your belly looks perfect - sorry you are feeling so sweaty/achy/etc. I think that part is coming for me too! Hopefully you are getting some down time and your hubby is rubbing your back :-)

I love this room! I love the unusual shape, the grey walls... the dark floors.

I'm 16 weeks and I'm barely showing! However, I'm like you... I'm so excited about having a baby, but I don't love being pregnant. I definitely don't feel like myself and I'm not looking forward to lugging this big belly around all summer when I'm trying to garden and grill. It's all worth it in the end!

the floors and paint look great! love the way the white trim pops against the darker colors.

The floors look awesome! Taping is such an exhausting activity. When we were painting back when I was around 26ish weeks, it totally wore me out.

You look fantastic!
You may not dig pregnancy but it obviously digs you :)
I have to say that the idea of bending and painting and all that while pregnant though gives me nightmares...or perhaps it's flashbacks. I spent the end of my first pregnancy scraping popcorn ceiling off of our entire house. It was a nightmare!

Thanks for being honest about not loving pregnancy. I'm 17 weeks and it's been tough in various ways so far, and I'm sure it's going to get a lot harder physically. Everyone expects me to be full of glee all the time and people act disappointed that I'm not. Also, I totally hear you on the sober/eating thing!

OMG! First off, I haven't been on here in awhile and have to say congrats on the baby news!!! Second, the floors look great! I swear you guys are the kings of refinishing floors.

Looking good all around. Floors turned out yummy and shiny and brand new looking. And I was wondering how you were doing. You look fab, sorry to hear the pregnancy isn't all that great, but you are getting through it.

The floor and the walls in that room look amazing! I'm digging that dark stain.

Sorry to hear that you're so uncomfortable right now! But I appreciate you keepin' it real for us. :)

Morgan said...

Wow! First, I LOVE the mobile, it is absolutely adorable. I still dig those grey walls so much! And I feel you on both the painting of baseboard AND how exhausting pregnancy can feel. Some women glow, and some of us just feel way too expanded!

you are too cute for words!!! Seriously. And well done on the floors in the baby's room. I am in love with that dark shade for sure!
