Overwhelmed

Maybe it's because I passed the 'one month until due date' mark, but I'm officially scared that I'm not getting things done.  I'm overwhelmed.  I walk into the baby's room and just walk back out because I have no idea where to start.  Observe the chaos:
It makes me sick that I just can't focus and get things organized.
At least the dresser is stocked, full of diapers on the right side and onesies, pants, and other clothing on the left.  I also managed to get two coats of Polycrylic on the dresser top to protect the paint.  Thank goodness.
Not sure where the buggy is going to live, and I still have to figure out where the glider is officially going, since there is no outlet on that wall with the wee window, and I need to plug in a lamp.
My mom made that amazing blanket, can you believe she found those perfect yarn colors??  She is also recovering the glider cushions and making my curtains for me.  I will have to come up with a great mother's day gift this year....
The closet is actually in good shape.  Most of the clothes are washed, except for things we're not sure we need.  Diapers are unboxed and ready, sleepers  and gowns are all washed and laid out for quick grabs.  Although the baby would not fit in the crib if he decided to come early...
What a mess.  I still need to make the crib skirt, hang the mobile, and the new art I got for the room:
I found so many cool outdoorsy art prints on Art.com....we love that they are colorful and reflect things Shaun loves to do.  Until I can find a print of someone blogging, I guess I won't have one that represents me!  I also picked up this solid nightstand from the thrift store for $15 to go next to the glider.
I'm probably going to paint it white to match the glider and crib, and I snagged four of these fab knobs on eBay for $13.  Love them!
And outside the baby's room, there is baskets and baskets of clean clothes to be folded and put away, including more wee clothes that are looking mighty strange in my house.
Wish me luck getting stuff done!  Lots of it.

  1. you will be fine and you already are "ready". you never really feel prepared, but all that baby needs is you and your husband to love it.

  3. ok, deep breath, all you will need for a while is a place for baby to sleep, a baby monitor, diapers and clothes. It will all come together. Our little came 7 weeks early and we were far from ready or so we thought.

  4. Baby just needs you :-) And some diapers. Really, that's it.

Delegate! I was so freaked out before my first kid that a week before he was due a friend who had two kids already came over to my house, unwrapped everything, washed it and put it away for me, and rearranged the furniture. Give Shaun and Grandma a list of things to be done.

  9. YOU ARE READY! This is just the little extra stuff that seems like it NEEDS to get done, but really it's just extra. If you really feel compelled, you should make a list of what needs to get done: then give it to Shaun :)

  10. I totally hear you, that one month mark is so scary! But you will be able to get it all done and, if you don't, who cares? Your little guy won't care and all of the important stuff is already in place. Sending good vibes your way!

  11. It's so overwhelming and I remember that feeling - but trust me it'll all work out. None of that needs to be done before the baby gets home. And when my babies were born I was completely unprepared (they both came early) and my mom came over and got the remaining thins done for me while we were in the hospital - that's what moms and grandmas are for. And yes - your mom deserves a great mother's day present but you already have that covered - you're giving her a grandbaby - there's nothing better than that :)

  12. Sara, don't worry. Your house will look like this after the little guy is born anyway. I have 2 kids under 5 and it is constantly a mess. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

  14. Hang in there, I know exactly how your feeling! I felt the same way, I had no idea where to begin, what do to ext. I had piles in the crib, I planned on relaxing on just doing the nursery 2 weeks before my due date, but my Dr. and baby had other plans for my and I had him 2 weeks early! So no worries if its not done before he arrives, you'll have time after his born..... don't stress

  15. Don't worry girl, you'll get there! Our nursery looked like that a week or so ago and I whipped that sucker into shape in a weekend. Nesting is a powerful thing! :) Love the outdoorsy prints too!

  19. Look at all you have done already! You're way further ahead than I was with my first one. His room didn't even get painted until after he was born. Remember to take lots of deep breaths and to get lots of rest....

  22. Deep breaths -- things will get done, and if they don't...well, the world doesn't stop when baby comes. It just hits pause for a bit. :) I was a maniac with my first child's nursery, had it 'perfect'...then brought him home and literally had no idea where to put him down! Just try to enjoy the final month with your sweetie!! :) The room is looking great...I know it will pull together amazing!

  23. Don't worry! For what it's worth, I didn't get the nursery pulled together until crunch time (thank jeebus she was 2 weeks late). The fact that you have a crib, the room's painted, diapers stocked & drapes up is MORE than enough!!!! Maybe just clear out the crib so baby can fit. =]

That blanket is AMAZING! You are giving your mom the best Mother's Day gift: a grandbaby! I plan to ride out that excuse w/ my MIL for years to come, ha!

  24. No worries, shove it all under a bed or in a closet and you'll get to it later!

  25. I'm sure it feels overwhelming (oh those pesky pregnancy nesting hormones) but the nursery is coming along beautifully! And it's okay if it's not 100% ready when the little guy gets here, he won't know the difference! I love love your new details, can't wait to see the finished space!
