DIY of the year

People, I made my bed.
I'm pretty sure I haven't done this since 2011, all this year I was pregnant and crabby and sweating through all my sheets nightly, so what was the point??  I suppose getting a new quilt and shams set helped motivate me.  Although, I still sweat like crazy at night and I put a quilt on my bed just in time for a 96 degree day tomorrow with a busted A/C unit.  Yeah....having a child makes you lose your mind.
But, isn't the Cynthia Rowley Medallion set pretty?  I got the quilt and shams for $60 total at TJ Maxx, but there are some on ebay too...for more money, it's apparently discontinued.  You also can't find the adorable bed accessory I have anywhere...sorry!
He was psyched to be on the bed instead of in the little bassinet he usually sleeps in.  I guess he needs lots of space to flail, and I also think he appreciates the pretty backdrop.
Speaking of the bassinet, it was mine when I was a baby.  My mom got all new fabric for it, and I love having him in our room for these first couple months until I can bear to have him in his crib.  It's perfect!
With the bedroom looking a little nicer, my next task is finding a missing tote of summer clothes that might actually fit on me!  Here's hoping.

  1. Love the quilt, but the designer accent baby just makes it! God, I want to beep that squishy little nose. He looks extremely sassy.

We never did the crib-in-another-room thing. All three kids slept with us until they voluntarily wandered to their own rooms. And we never, ever regretted it. I mean, what other mammal sleeps as far away from their young as possible?

  3. This is just too cute! Love the quilt and the adorable little guy on it.

I'm considering our sleeping options for when our little guy gets here. I've heard it's much more convenient to keep him in the room with us, but our master bedroom is tiny!

  7. Ohh the night sweats, how i remember those. Love the quilt though. It goes really well with your rug.

Having Katie in our room didn't really work for us. Too noisy. Ahh but that little boy is too cute. I want to eat his cheeks. Not in weird way or anything. Has this comment gotten strange? I should just stop now.

  8. The quilt is really great! Love it.

The little boy is even better, love his curious little facial expressions :)

And I never ever ever ever make my bed. Except when I take pictures for my blog... and even then, not always. I don't know, it just feels futile to do something that you'll need to do all over again in 24 hours. But I'm sure I will need to start doing it if I don't want my kids to have the same bad habit... Ugh. Later.

  12. Um, I probably have made my bed a couple times in the last month... and I don't have any cute babies to distract me from cleaning! Nice score on the quilt; I'll have to check out what my store has in stock.

  13. So sweet! Sadly I couldn't wait to kick my two kids out of my room. They were both really loud grunters and all night long I would hear "UGHHHH!" Needless to say, I was not getting much sleep...and me with no sleep is not a pretty sight!

  14. Love the quilt and shams - so pretty!
Also the best accessory ever! He is adorable! :) Does he love his sleep sheep? We swear by Halle's still and she's almost 1! The white noise of the rolling waves relax all three of us (we can hear it through her monitor). It really helps to lull her to sleep if she's fighting it a little.

  17. What a fabulous quilt. The colors are too cute and the pattern is just so unique and fun. Great find! And that little guy? I'm dying from the cuteness over here. What a beautiful little man you have. He is quite photogenic.

We had Henry in the bassinet for two nights before I went insane and had to put him in his crib. Isn't it funny how every parent does things so differently? I love reading about other babies' sleep arrangements. (I know, I'm a wierdo.)

  19. Love the quilt. The pattenr is amazing. And that little guy totally makes the picture. Isn't is amazing how much cuter anything can look with a precious little boy laying on it. Or trying to crawl away as mine now does.

We kept Carter in our room for 6 weeks and then moved him. The first night was hard, but then it was so nice to be able to watch TV and talk again as we were getting into bed.
