Coat closet painted

After many days of scraping, sanding, priming and painting, I can finally say I don't need to bring a paintbrush inside this closet ever again.  It took forever.  Here she is:
I thought long and hard about paint color.  I hate white closets, so I needed color or pattern.  I briefly thought about stenciling or adding beadboard, but I knew it would take forever and would always be hidden with coats and stuff, so it just wasn't worth the effort.  The color is Ralph Lauren 'Reflecting Pool', the same as the hallway.
I was able to use some leftover gray primer in the closet, it made it possible to only do ONE coat of the teal with minor touchups.  How sweet is that?
I love the color!  I know it's dark, but I felt free to take liberties since the window brightens it up considerably.  And if you're looking for something at night, good luck!
The shelves and trim turned out nice and crispy as well.
What do you think?  Am I crazy for putting such a deep color in a small closet?

Oooh, I love this - especially with the window in the closet. Makes me look at my closet and dream things we can't do while renting. Oh well. Love the color and the contrast of the white against it.

I don't think you're crazy. It looks really nice. It does make a difference that you have some natural light in there.

Mmm teal. That is my all time favorite color. I commend you on your selection! And I agree. Closets should be boring white.

Sara! When are you coming to my house to work your magic?? Pretty please! Love the color, the trim just pops. Fabulous.

Gorgeous color! No way are you crazy, I love dark color in small spaces... no more beige or tan for me EVER.

Personally I think it looks fantastic Sara. Hall lights are for finding things in dark closets at night. Most closets are dark, just the way it goes! :) Love the colour too!

I LOVE this!! The colour looks fantastic in there!

I'm currently trying to choose a colour for inside my linen closet (it's currently a nasty pea soup green - NOT my choice!), but alas it has no natural light to make such a rich colour work!

You might be a little crazy but it has nothing to do with the paint color! Seriously...love it! Nothing like a bold color paired with bright white.

That is a fabulous color. Might not work for everyone but with the window & bright white trim it really looks great.

If there isn't enough light from the hall to find things at night maybe you can find some sort of battery operated light to put on the wall opposite the window. I've never used one but I see them once in a while advertised for using in dark closets.

Love it! The window will make the dark color lighten up, and it won't show scuffs like white closets do! Great job! :)

I love it! You did a great job - and I think closets are perfect spaces for dark colors - especially if you're storing shoes and such in there that can scuff up the paint, they'll be less noticeable. ;)

No way. It is AMAZING. You seriously have the best eye for color. Your whole house is lovely, saturated color, but somehow it all just floooowwwws together. Beautiful.

Wow I love that color. What a great closet. It is prettier than my bedroom!

Beautiful colour. Our closet is painted dark as well. We have chocolate brown wood hangers that were always leaving marks on the walls. My solution was to paint the closet chocolate brown too, we had leftover paint from an accent wall in the kitchen.

Take care,
Lisa

Agree... I feel like blah, blah, blah-ing at the whole "dark colors make the space look smaller" phrase.

And anyway this is a closet, and of course it looks awesome!
