Oh yeah, we got snow

This is how Shaun had to get out of the back door to shovel today.  He likes to 'dive in' to his chores.  Har har.
It was absolutely hilarious to watch him try to get out of the snow and stand up.
Eventually, a path was created.
And then the driveway was cleared with the help of our neighbor's snow blower.  We share a driveway, so we always have help!  And, our Christmas wreath was finally removed from the front of the house.  That's why I don't do lights, people.
My bro and Shaun decided to do some snow angels, mid-shoveling session.
They had an ab workout when they tried to get up, though.
Great job, guys!  Now get back to shoveling.
We've never seen snow like this.  Racine's official total was 23.5 inches!
The total inches of snow in our kitchen?  One too many.
Yes, we had snow blowing onto our kitchen counter through these big holes in the backsplash.  When we ripped out the faux brick a year ago, some of the plaster came with it.  We've had cardboard covering the hole all that time, but there is NO insulation behind this wall and we have an opening on the outside of the house where it's getting in.  So, that sucks.  But at least the snow has stopped, and it looks pretty when the sun is out.
Hope everyone in the blizzard's path enjoyed their snow day!  I know my shovelers did.
Yes, this is how we do in Wisconsin.

  1. That is insane! If Saint Louis got that much snow everything would shut down. We were expecting like 8 inches of snow plus ice and they were calling in the National Guard. Wussies.

If this was Sydney I dread to think our trains stop if we get a storm in the day time ,all the loonies seem to drive faster if it rains ,imagine if it snowed!!!

  8. We got 21.5 here... WAY way way too much. Ugh. The pictures look fun though even if this amount of snow is pretty miserable :) I love that they are smiling and having fun while digging their way out of your house :)

My husband got stuck in our driveway yet again today because the snow is still blowing and drifting all over the place. Blech.

  11. Looks like how we do it in PA! Not so much this year, but we enjoyed some brews when we got hammered (pun intended) with snow last year.

  13. WOW. That's a TON of snow! Thankfully, that storm missed us here in VA completely. That would have crippled us for weeks!!

  14. that is ridiculous...we got about 16 inches in Madison (about 20 inches total over the 2 days). I agree with the beer however, post-shovel. It medicates away the back pain.

  15. are you kidding me??! we have an inch of ice on the ground and life has stopped for 3 days!!! I haven't even opened the door...with a wind chill at 0 I'm about to lose my mind! How do you keep your house warm in these temps?!?! I have a whole new respect for you Northerners!!

  16. Those pictures are so funny (well, except for the snow in the house one - bummer!). I think the beers were well deserved after shoveling all that snow.

  18. Love the last picture. So funny! Did you get off work?

We only got 17 inches, but I cannot imagine getting any more. Wow!

  19. I am jealous. We have around 10, but it was smooshed down by a layer of sleet midway through the storm. Just enough to make it heavy and icy.

  20. WOW, that is a crap ton of snow!!! It makes our drifts look like anthills. Very impressive.

That last picture is too funny. Nothin' like a cold, freshing beer in -5 degree weather. ;)

    Have fun thawing out!

  24. The guys are smoking cigars and drinking (l-r) Jack and Coke, Flaming Damsel Lager (Milwaukee brewing) and Lakefront IPA. It was a nice day after the snow removal was over!

  25. Looks like our house :-) I was listening to the radio last week and they said that we have already double the amount of snow that we got last winter, and we've still got two months of crappy weather to go. Global warming and your El Nino weather, please go away.

  26. I love that your snow is white and doesn't have Newports butts and dog droppings in it. Ah, New York.

  27. Hole- eee crap!! I'm glad the boys got to enjoy themselves after all that hard work.

  28. Snow in the house - not good! Guys clearing the driveway for you - very good! I have to say it looks like way more than 23.5 inches. You guys got way more snow in that storm than we did here in Ontario. We have lots this year and are just coming out of a couple of weeks of deep freeze, but nothing like yours.
