We also got the existing rugs back down in the bedrooms, after much sweating, yelling and flailing around. News flash - it's not a super idea to put down room-sized rugs when the furniture is already in there! It just worked out that way because I wanted to get the extra furniture OUT of our bedroom asap. Oh well.
I love these rugs! They are flat woven wool+cotton and nubby, which initially made me nervous that they would turn into long scratching posts for the cats.
Thankfully, they don't seem interested in anything but laying on them, sitting on them, and sniffing them. Mostly while I take pictures.
The rug pad adds just the right amount of cushion to make walking in bare feet nice and cozy. I still have to stack something heavy on the edges to get them to lay down flat.
They were pretty reasonable at $119 each, however the $23 shipping cost and $12 (WI 5%) tax charge certainly inflated the price. We could've gone to pick them up at the store, but driving to IL just for these wouldn't save us any cash. Hello, IL? It's not nice to charge visitors tolls. It makes me not want to visit. Especially when your roads are some of the worst wagon trails I've ever been on. And your sales tax is over 10% which is craaaaazy! Just sayin.
Cost: $225 for both after my (free) gift card was applied. Rug pads were about $10 at TJ Maxx. Sounds good to me!

I love them!!!! Congratulations! Everyone is ripping off everyone where rugs are concerned these days, but you know what? I don't really care! They look great.
ReplyDeleteLove the rugs! They're perfect for the floors. Great find!
ReplyDeleteThese go perfect in your hallway! Great find.
ReplyDeleteI love your rug taste! It looks great :)
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing those rugs for awhile! You copy cat :-P They look so nice with your newly refinished floors! Gotta love those Discover points!
ReplyDeleteNice! They look really great.
ReplyDeletebrilliant!! they are perfect for your hallway(s).
ReplyDeleteand that's awesome that your cats haven't been scratching at them - i would have the same fears about my cats doing the same!
I love those rugs - they look well worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteWow, those rugs are PERFECT for your hallways! They are absolutely gorgeous, I love them! (and apparently your cats do, too!)
ReplyDeleteLove them! The 10% sales tax thing is horrible. Now I try and only shop in the suburbs of Chicago... as the tax is only in Cook county. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI love them. Runners are definitely on my shopping list soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the rugs. I've never seen a West Elm store. 10% sales tax in IL is insane. I remember seeing that when I was in Chicago and I almost freaked out. There's no sales tax in Delaware, so any tax at all sends me running back home.
ReplyDeleteworth every penny!
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing - I love them! I want the 9 x 12 for our living room, but they are self-bound, so my carpet binder guy can't adjust the size... poo. I will just have to live vicariously through you!
ReplyDeletePerfect! I have been drooling over chevron lately and those rugs are just making the craving worse. They look fab in your hallways!
ReplyDeleteIm in love! They look great with the dark floors!
ReplyDeleteSara--I love these rugs! They look great with the floors and the paint color on the walls. (By the way, don't forget to enter my giveway!)
ReplyDeleteThey look awesome! I love the color (and your cats seem to love it too!) Yeah, I agree Chicago tax and tolls are disgustingly annoying and too high. ::sigh:: Sadly, I pay them on a daily basis and there's not much I can do...
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I love West Elm, but our store closed recently. Now I'm wondering where I could use a rug like this in my house. I'll have to check their website!
ReplyDeleteUm, Sara? I am totally in love!! Not just with those outrageously perfect rugs, but with your whole house. How often can you call hallways sexy? All of your photos are looking like they came straight out of Apartment Therapy these days.
ReplyDeleteOoh, these are so snazzy! My cat would be all over that.
ReplyDeleteI want one in charcoal gray for our entryway, please. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your post, I thought of this: http://chezlarsson.com/myblog/2010/03/staying-put.html - I don't know if this is something you want to do especially after you've just refinished your beautiful floors, but thought I'd share anyway!
Call me easy, but I can't ever say no to chevron! Gorgeous. They really pop against your beautiful floors.
ReplyDeleteI love how the furry monsters are checking out the scene. They crack me up.
Love the rugs. They look awesome! (Cats are cute too!) lol
