The harvest has begun

Okay, I've only 'harvested' one cucumber, but it was a BIG one!  I pulled it off the jungle plant upstairs today and excitedly ran downstairs to wash it and slice it before I even thought to take a photo.
I already started eating it, too.  It was almost a perfect square shape!
This is the 'burpless' variety and the seeds are smaller than grocery store cukes.  It was tasty!  I also have some squash and zucchini that are ready to be picked, so I'm looking forward to making myself a stir fry or kabobs this weekend.  Have a great one!

  1. Oh fantastic! I am SO jealous of your garden, especially now that I'm seeing the fruits...errr vegetables of your labor!

If only I weren't so darn lazy, I'd get moving on some crops of my own! (I like to think the laziness is due to being a renter....and not having a yard....but really those are just excuses aren't they?)

  2. Isn't gardening great? I've been enjoying fresh bruschetta several times a week with the tomatoes and basil from my garden. I always get sad when September comes and my plants die off.

  3. Hooray for the harvest beginning! Our tomato plants are growing like crazy. You'd think we were giving them steroids or something! I'll have to do a post on them soon. There are so many green tomatoes on the plants right now, I can't wait to start harvesting them all!! Enjoy!

  11. There's actually a burpless variety? I didn't even know everyone else burps after eating cukes. My friends always make fun of me for it. Wait 'til I throw this knowledge at them...Thanks Sara :)
