Welcome to crazytown

So, like a home decor masochist I decided to take a trip to the local Benjamin Moore paint retailer on my lunchbreak.  And now I'm sitting here comparing all these instead of priming my pink room:

Oh, and I found this fabric on Tonicliving.com:

Gah!  I am officially nuts.  Just wanted to keep you in the loop.  That is all.

  2. This should help keep you in crazy town. My Benjamin Moore dealer told me that there are identical colors with different names in those decks.

I was stuck between two colors...one in the classic deck and one in the preview deck (think those are the names). She took a look and realized that they had the same formula. She told me it was kind of normal for BM to reintroduce a color with a new name. Not sure if it's totally true.

    Isn't that insane?!?

  3. Danielle - I don't know about the fabric, it's 9 bucks a yard (compared to 50 cents for the current fabric!) so if I do go with it, it will have to wait.

Jeannine - I think I already accidentally figured that out, I was comparing a couple of shades and could NOT tell the difference. How stupid!

  4. LOVE the new fabric. It might be worth waiting for ... the pink room is an example of living with something you really don't like and trying to make it work. Don't hang the old fabric if you don't love it.

  5. I loved the first fabric (and definitely its price) but I LOVE love the new one you found! Oh man, how will you ever decide??

  7. I really dig this new fabric but I think I might like the one you already have better! Course I don't have to live with it but at $0.50/yard, I'd probably stick with it. This, of course, coming from the ridiculous nutjob who spent gobs of money on theatre curtains for her bedroom {you haven't missed them, they're still not installed}. Go with your gut. Either option will look killer.

  8. i love the new fabric... so much that i might have to buy some.

gray is a difficult color - i painted our bathroom gray and i seriously ended up buying a gallon of what i liked the most of the few samples i got... and then would paint an area, take it back to sherwin williams, have them add a few drops of black/white/blue/whatever color i thought i needed, until i got a shade that i liked. and then i went to paint my kitchen and found the perfect darker gray on the first try. go figure.

  10. Oh man, I do not envy you right now. Trying to find the right paint color is so frustrating! And then they look totally different on the wall than on the card.... ARGH.

  11. Love the fabric - I don't envy you trying to pick a gray paint though. There are just too many!

  12. Hi...I came across your blog and i am going nuts trying to find the perfect gray color for my den/dining room. I am stuck btween stongington gray (BM) and the conventry gray you have shown in your photos. How does the color look at night? I don't want a dark color. I don't want something that would make the room look smaller and darker. However, I want a color, rather than something too light. It's difficult to tell from your photos how it would look like in a darker room without sunlight.

  13. Talia,

I can't see your profile. If you email me, I can send you some photos of the walls at night!

    Thanks,
    Sara
